  1. The suggestions above are ok and will help...but I think old fashioned chips shops use beef dripping to fry the chips in and that is what  really helps, especially if fat not hot enough, coz the chips also soak up the fat..mmmm

  2. Wash potatoes slice thin and pan fry in about 1/2 inch of hot oil. Place on a paper towel when you remove them from the grease and lightly salt and or season.

  3. Hi there,  to begin with  you need the right type of potatoes, go to a fruit shop for those  , all ways peel , cut , and then place the chips in a large container of clean water, 2 reasons for that  , 1 it stops them  from turning black and 2 allot of the starch washes of that way, before you fry them you place them on two towels and dry the water of them,  to fry them  i would seriously use a blend of  of vegetable oil and about a cup of lard or dripping, you will find that in the butter section of your supermarket, the reason you fry chips in lard or dripping is to get that sunday roast beefy flavor and smell into them***    so how do you fry them?

make sure the oil is hot enough before you place them in  by holding a chip  half way in to the oil to test it , if it starts to sizzle/bubble then its time to place them in very carefully , fry for 4 minutes then take them out and place them somewhere  for 5 minutes to cool down,

fry again until cooked , then!

this is the most important part!   you have to make them steam in a paper parcel, and how you do that is spread out 4 sheets of newspaper, on top of that you can use a couple of  sheets of butchers paper, the white paper they use in the supermarket, place the chips on that , sprinkle with salt , wrap the parcel up making sure there's no holes and leave it to steam for 4 minutes , cut a hole in one end only and start to eat,   it might sound like theres allot to do but trust me , if you love soggy chips this is the best way,

  4. Wash some potatoes, then peel them, then chop them into chip size bits and fry in hot olive oil.

  5. In chip shops the spuds are cut and then left to soak in water, try that but make sure they are thick cut.

It seems there is a chip hater out there.

  6. peel and chip potatoes, rinse in water then dry. drop into hot oil (170 deg) and part fry. Lift and leave for a couple of mins then drop back into the oil til crisp and golden

  7. when you've fried your chips place them on kitchen roll in a dish put kitchen roll on top then put them in the microwave for a few seconds they come out nice and soggy

ps . i think you already know you have to peel and chip them first .i just told you how to get them soggy not like the others telling you to peel and chip em i think you know that already lol
