Question:

How do i make it so certain programs don't automatically start when the computer turn on?

It takes my computer about 10 minutes to turn on and I want to check if thats the culprit.

  1. This is how you disable programs from starting up...

    - Click your Start button, then select, "Run..."

    - Type in, "msconfig"

    - Click the, "Startup" tab

    - UNcheck the programs you do not want to start when your computer turns on

    - Click the, "Apply" button

    - Close out and restart your computer


  2. These are called startup items. To disable the ones you don't want, follow the instructions below:

    Go to Start >> Run... >> and type in msconfig. Click OK. The window will pull up and click on the Startup tab. Here lists all of the things that startup on boot. All you have to do is uncheck the ones that you don't want, Click OK, and restart the computer.

    As an additional measure to speed up your computer you may want to return to msconfig and disable some services that you are not using. When in msconfig just go to the Services tab, Check "hide all Microsoft Services" and un-check the rest that you don't need.

  3. click start then run and enter msconfig there is a tab tha shows all programs that start on boot disable all that you wish to not start

  4. start then run then type "msconfig" with no " and then from there click the startup tab. uncheck that you dont want to use. if you dont know what does word means..google it..goodluck

  6. Open run from the start menu and type msconfig go to the start up tab and un check all the useless programs.
