  1. Jeans are the hardest garment to take in. The demin fabric is thick and just to run a new seam up the side doesn't work  well. Most jean seams are double sewn down. The set in pockets are tough to work around too.. The waistband is too thick to fold and double. You can rip open seams and re sew, but this is time consuming and not for beginner sewers.


  2. I asked a seamstress this very question once, and she told me it is very very difficult to down-size jeans. If you can afford it, maybe get another pair. The Goodwill near us has TONS of name brand jeans for only a few dollars a pair...maybe yiou can shop around or start a Jeans Exchange..trade with people.

  4. It's expensive to have done and a pain (if you do it) to take in jeans and do it correctly.  You'd be far better off buying new ones, depending on how much the jeans need to come in and where.

    And I say that as someone who has made jeans.
