  1. Is your coolant low when you add some? Like it is leaking out...... if so you have a leak some where most likely in a hose or on your radiator. If it is not leaking and it happends when you go fast check your oil it is low and when is the last time you changed it. Reallly need more info....

  2. hi adriana.pretty picture.it could be one of many things.if the water is not leaking where you could see it. it is not your hoses.it could be your head gasket.you didnt say how old the car was.7 years or older.that could be it.check your oil if it has signs of water in it.thats your problem.it could be that your water pump is not cerculating the water.you also have a additional second fan near your radiator.it works independant from your fan belt.it is supposed to kick in when the water gets to hot.so what does this all mean.you could do more harm useing it.get to a service station where they also do repairs.let them check it out.do not let him charge you for the estamate.if he tells you to leave the car.be sure he does no work without your o.k.that is the law.go to more than one place for a price.if you are young talk to your parents. they will advise you.good luck.make msure they do everything there supposed to if you give them the job.get a writen contract.

  3. Adriana, if you are as cute as your avatar then there is no stopping the overheating.

But seriously, your thermostat probably needs replacing. I would def take it to a service station as overheating can cause major damage and an expensive repair.

Coolant and antifreeze are the same...But you should have the proper ratio of water and antifreeze. Usually 50/50.

Many companies already have pre mixed coolant available.

    Good luck!

  4. Need to find the coolant leak, and repair the source of the leak. This will cause damage to your engine and cause breakdown.

The coolant should be 50/50 percent anti-freeze to water, by just adding water every time it gets low does not solve the problem, plus the leaks on the drive way, and odor.

Have the the coolant system pressure tested, and have 2  estimates for the cost, will save you time and monies.

  5. If you are continuously adding antifreeze, the you have a leak to address.  If there is no sign of a leak, then look inside the rad.  it should be clean, no rust or white deposits growing.  If there are white deposits that resemble coral, then the rad is plugged & needs replacing.

  6. yur thermostat maybe stuck closed thats the better approach to the matter gurl if that doesnt do the fix then make sure yur fans are running if no that it could be a head gasket

  7. I think you need to take it to a mechanic and have your  thermostat  and radiator  checked. go get it checked  out soon cause if it keep running hot you could mess up your motor. be safe

  8. coolant is antifreeze yes.

If you have to add coolant you have a leak. Get the leak fixed.

Don't change the hoses, as it will not do anything unless they are leaking which you should see externally.

  9. There are many reasons for over heating. Check the following:

1.If you are loosing coolant or anti freeze(same thing) and you keep adding it, make sure that the cap of the reservoir ( where you add coolant is tightened properly), if it is not, the coolant will vaporize and you will not see the leak or water leaking from anyhwhere

    2. Have a technician do a Cooling system pressure test to ensure and find out where the leak is, if there is a leak. Change the hoses if required, which will be disclosed by the pressure test.

    3. Make sure that the cooling fans ( 2 of them) are working at both high and low speed.

4.Get a radiator flush done too.

    5. Check the thermostat and the water pump.

    6. Check your engine oil and transmission oil. If they are mixed with water, do not drive the car anymore and take it on a winch to the service center.

If all is well and the car is still over heating then you need to check other leaks such as head gasket, water plugs etc. By the way, always mix coolant with water instead of using pure coolant.

Do not drive fast while the over heating syndrome is continuing as continued over heating will damage other things such as the cylinder head and melt the pistons too.

  10. ok if you drive it slow and it dont overheat then your radiator is dirty... if you drive it a short time and it over heats then your thermostat is bad... if you have to keep adding coolant then you have a leak which could be a bad hose or water pump or even a bad radiator or cap... and yes same thing coolant is antifreeeze you can do a lot of the work or replacing of but woul dbe best just to have someone check it out just say my car is overheating
