  1. Move slowly and talk softly when you're around it.

Cats are afraid of loud voices, erratic movements.

  2. stop throwing water at it

  3. In Jamaica we sometimes put a little  margarine on the tip of our finger and make the cat l**k it cause they love dairy stuff i guess. it helps. make sure you are the only one that feeds it and that it knows its you, animals tend to be very loyal to their feeders let it see you putting out the food.  and lastly pet it a lot and if you don't mind let it sleep with you, not the entire night if you don't want, just a while. petting a lot is the best though.

  4. Talk softly, move slowly, offer it a treat and when it takes it, gently pet it. Get a toy mouse or a toy on a string and play with it. Don't throw water at it or hit it. If it does something wrong, raise your voice at it. That's the best way.

  5. Maybe that is the problem. You don't do enough to it. You don't interact with it enough.  Unlike most people that are scared of you, cats will except bribes. If your cat hides from you, try just sitting in the room where your cat is hiding. ( cats usually are under the bed ). Just sit there, and have a treat in  the palm of your hand. Make sure the cat sees it, and just hold out the treat. Try to coax the cat out from hiding ( or just from wherever the cat is if it isn't hiding ) to come and eat the treat. If it doesn't work the first time, just keep trying. Eventually, as the cat gets more comfortable with your presence, they will take the treat from your hand. The cat will become less scared of you and realize that you aren't trying to harm it, and soon it should allow you to pet it. Let the cat sniff your hand first, don't just go up to it and start petting it. Cat's prefer more of a scratch rather than a rub like dogs. I find cats love being scratched behind the ears. The cat should accept you, because they like being scratched. If at first it doesn't seem like the cat wants to be scratched, just try the treat thing, and then try to scratch it after they get the treat. Soon the cat should start being more comfortable with you, even rubbing up against your leg. But remember, these things take time. Spens a solid week just having your cat get used to you interacting with it, and this should help you with you problem.

  6. Feed her

    Hold her

    Give her water

    Play with her

BY THE TIME SHE/HE WILL KNOW YOU

and will not be scared yet...

  7. I'm not much of a cat person, but my dog is extremely skiddish and the best way to make him/her more comfortable is to either let it approach you and let it smell your hand or get down to your cat's level and don't make and sudden movements, let it smell you and slowly pet it. Eventually, it'll work. It takes time and it'll get use to you.

  8. Plan on taking quite a while and perhaps never succeeding.  Feed the cat from your own hands (not from a big dispenser) and sit or stand quietly watching when it comes to feed.  Gradually get closer and make it clear that you are providing the food and try petting while it is eating.

I had a sort of stray cat wander into my back yard and twine around my ankles and I started putting food out and it took two weeks to get it to come in the house to eat (and went right back out) and another two before it would let me touch it.  It never would allow me to carry it although it would lay with me and be petted and finally slept on the bed with me.
