  1. Hi:

You shouldn't have to put any pressure on your drum stick or at least a very light push or hold them very loosly . the Drum skin should be  tight enough around the drum that  when you drop the drum stick it should bounce about two to three times. Do this :Test your drum skin tightness by drop a American Quarter on it. If it bounce two to three times  after dropping it on; than your drum is not the problem. if it doesn't?  Retighten your drum skin and try again.  Than check and see how you are holding the drum sticks. Your fingers should be very slighty back from the stick's center of gravity. Remember all you do is guide the sticks with your fingers  all you do is  put a little up and down on the stick and keep it from flying out of your hands. it take practice to master this. But you allow the sticks to have a little play but not too much as to fly out of your hand. Just keep on practicing until you get it right.

    I hope this helps.
