How do i make my ipod shuffle work?

i have the first ipod shuffle (the long white one) and i havnt used it in a long time and when i try and make it play . . . the green and orange light just flash back and forth and nothing plays . . . WHAT DO I DO to make it work

charge it..

Plug it into your computer and open iTunes.  Then go to settings so you can Restore it.
