  1. Leopard's implementation of Windows network sharing is buggy. Works better in Tiger.

On my home network, Windows PCs can't be seen in Finder Shares. I need to use Go -> Connect to Server and type in "smb://IP address or computer name.

On my office network, Windows PCs are visible in Finder Shares but I cannot connect to them at all.

Parallels in Leopard has no problem connecting to Windows PC shares.

Entering the Workgroup name and WIN Servers in System Prefereces -> Network -> Airport -> Advanced -> Wins, is not saved and keeps those fields blank.

    Solution... i think..

In the Network preferences, create a new Location. This allows you to enter your Workgroup name and WINS server (I think you don't have to enter WINS if you don't have one). Restart Leopard and you should now connect to your network shares directly in Finder. You may however need to press the on/off button on your Mac the first time you start Parallels after this change.

also..Try entering the Workgroup name in the network settings.

    regards,

    J
