How do i make my makeup not chalky?

Whenever i use foundation, concealer, and/or powder it really brings out the little hairs on my face and all the dry patches. When my face gets oily by mid day my makeup starts to bunch up in only certain places on my face. I tried to use less, but it didnt do much, it had the same affect, just i had less coverage. What can i do??

  1. I would switch to a different brand. It sounds like that formula is just not working for you. Have you tried mineral makeup? I have tried several brands, but I like Everyday Minerals the best. They have a free sample program (check their site) and it costs less, covers better, and has more colors than the leading brand, Bare Minerals.

Another tip, instead of using powder to get rid of shine, I like blotting papers, like the kind by Clean and Clear.

But whatever you do, try some different brands. Sometimes it takes a little experimentation to find the formula that's compatible with your individual skin chemistry.

  2. I would say quit using foundation all together!!

Most ppl dont really need it. Forget the idea of perfection..

I would say just get an astringent.. use that every night.. maybe even use thru out the day for when face gets oily.. But dont over do it.

Wash your face w/something like Neutrogena.. I have the kind that smells like citrus.. with exfoliator. I used to have really bad acne especially on my forehead.. but as my hormones calmed down(I'm 21).. and i got into a regular regimen.. it started to look better..

  3. you may not be using the right shade for you. Also, try getting a primer before applying your make up. the primer makes it stay on your face longer. you can get it at MAC.

  4. add i itty bit of water!! b4 u use it each time!!

  5. change your foundation... if you use a good quality foundation you won't need concealer (in some cases.) And, if you use something like Maybelline's matte finish you won't need powder. (Of course, I still use powder to get my signature look... but really it's optional.)

Use lotion on your face and always start with a clean canvas before applying your foundation...

Just try and mix up some of your techniques and try a different foundation.

Good luck and don't give up!
