How do i make my own boat hatch?

hi i need a boat hatch that will be big enough for my 175 horse inboard to fit through so that i can remove it from the cabin? Any ideas? Perhaps make mt own? Cheers

Thats a broad question and a half! So you need a hatch leading into the cabin of what size? and you want to move an engine out of what size? and the existing hatch is what size?

All that in mind.. I still don't have a clue. Do you want to build a frame and door (for lack of technical word) as in the piece that slides in and out?

You can use starboard, plywood, oak. so little detail, so many options, I'm sorry I really can't help without more information.

without much info you will probably have to carefully remove the deck head stringers lift the engine out and replace same, dont forget if your taking a big engine like that out you will have to compensate with ballast.
