    You can find free sotware to register to many search engines like yahoo or google.

    I use a system called Site Build It! for my website.  It will help you with all of these things and more.  It automatically submits my site to the search engines any time I add or change a page.  It has tools that help me make sure my page is optimized.  It has tons of other resources including information on finding directories.
