  1. You first need to find that router's cd and follow the installation process and once you arrive at the security portion use either WEP or WPA, if you do not have that router's cd, then select START/RUN, type CMD, select OK, then a black screen will appear then type ipconfig, then press ENTER key, look for the default gateway ip address and write it down (ie. 192.168.x.x), goto the internet and then type that ip address where you see the http://, then press ENTER, you should get a logon/password popup menu for your router at this point you need to know your router's default logon/password and you can get that from router's documentation or from the router's website, once you complete that task and use the info you should be able to open the router's infomation page and then find the security section and select WEP of WPA and follow the instructions from there. I hope this help. We needed to know which router you have inorder to more percise.

  2. As Hndrk said, WEP is an option, it's ubiquitous, and it's better than nothing. Be aware however that WEP has security flaws (see "Intercepting Mobile Communications: The Insecurity of 802.11" by Nikita Borisov, Ian Goldberg, and David Wagner)

A more secure solution is to use WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access). If your router is new and Wi-Fi Alliance "Wi-Fi Certified" (typically touted on the box), it should support WPA2.

I believe the most secure option is to implement a virtual private network. This option is decidedly not suitable for newbies; however, if you're serious about security and willing to learn, it's a good way to go. There is ample reading material at OpenVPN.

  3. You Have To Go To The Website Of The Modem U Are Using...U Shld Be Able To Set A Password There.

    I THINK

  4. In the options you should enable the WEP (wireless encryption protocol)
