  1. Process:

Materials- Bowl, water, flour(or, liquid glue if you prefere it) Paper towels(Honestly, News paper works for more heavy stuff, paper towels are better for the last layer to create a smoother surface) and messy hands.

You stir the water and flour(or liquid glue) together until it being runny and gross.  You tear the paper in strips, dip in mixture, smooth out with fore finger and tumb to take excess mixture off, and apply to desired area. Repeat. Hope it works! Ive been doing it for years.

  2. paper towel

    glue

  3. tissue paper glue and water and over lap it

  4. you can get hodge podge glue and use that instead.

  5. I remember how to make a piñata paper mach'e.

Get a balloon, blow it up, tie it, start gluing (there's a special glue you have to use though...) newspapers on it, let it dry for a while. Then, start painting it and if you want to make some kind of animal or something, use toilet paper rolls.... Then last, pop the balloon inside and you're done. =]

  6. (I'm not sure what "part the flour" means... perhaps you could explain that a bit more.)

It's helpful though to think of "papier mache" as a method, rather than one particular set of ingredients.

In fact, various ingredients can be used for the adhesive as well as for the material to use the adhesive with.... flour + water (= a natural sticky starch) is just one thing that can be used as an adhesive, and strips of newspaper are just one thing that can be used with it.

For example, one simple, quick, and strong method might use permanent white glue (like Elmers GlueAll...also called PVA glues) thinned down 3 or 4 to one with water (which is what "decoupage mediums" are, like ModPodge), then use that liquid to saturate blue "shop" towels**...those are then draped over some kind of form, or shaped freehand, and left to dry.  (Often papier mached items use more than one layer of their material and adhesive though since they're often using thinner materials or using weaker adhesives than white glue).

**those can be found on a roll in the automotive dept at Target, etc., and now I notice even at the grocery store with the regular paper towels... they're thick and very drapable

Here are a bunch of recipes and instructions for doing "papier mache" in various ways:

  7. Simple get a bowl that you wont want to use again. Put about two-thirds PVA glue in to the bowl and about one-third cold water and mix with a paintbrush or something like that. Then use toilette paper/ newspaper or something of the like and then dip that in to the mixture and put it onto whatever you are paper mach'e ing .

  8. PVA glue and water (Tissue or old newspaper)
