How do i make the heart sign?

ok, i know its alt + 3, but when i do it anywhere it doesnt work! also, im using a laptop and i know to use the Fn button. PLZ help me!!!!!1

type this & h e a r t s and at the end of hearts..RIGHT next to the 's', put this ;     the symbol with the period over the comma lol.

BUT MAKE SURE YOU DONT PUT ANY SPACES BETWEEN THE & AND HEARTS. I ONLY DID THAT SO THE SYMBOL WONT POP UP.
