  1. first off this is a bad mix of fish goldfish and tropical fish should not be kept togather since the loach requires a heated tank and the gold fish prefer a cooler tank

sand is fine but since the 50 gallon is going to be a new tank you will want to use some of the gravel from the already established tank also clean the filters from the old tank into the new tank this will seed the tank with the good bacteria and help speed up the process since the loach lives at the bottom of the tank you should not add it to the 50 gallon tank untill you know the tank has completed it's cycle since the highest ammonia levels will be at the bottom of the tank

  2. The weather dojo loach, has been deemed as a coldwater fish. Though with goldfishs reputation as being dirty fish, I wouldn't put any other fish with them even the weather dojo.

I have my weather dojo, with golden dojos in the community tank.

  3. Goldfish can't have sand.  It irritates their gills Get a finer grain gravel and give him hiding places to make up for not being able to burrow.  Make sure you cycle your new tank before you put the fish in.

  4. Keep them in their original tank until your new tank is cycled. You could take a media from your filter and put it in the new filter to transfer some of the beneficial bacteria. I don't know much about sand vs gravel. So I can't help you there. But I would wait at least 4 weeks before moving them so the tank is good and ready. Make sure to use water conditioner to take out the chlorine and chloramines in the water. When you do you switch them over put them in a  plastic baggy of their tank water and float it on the top of the new tank so they can adjust to the new temperature.

  5. First you will want to rinse the sand substrate very well until it no longer comes out dirty looking, this will prevent having super cloudy water. Then put it in your tank after you set it up but before you add water. Then put a plate on top of the sand, and fill it about 1/2 full of tap water. Then take some of your old tank water and fill it up as much as possible, and then top off with tap water. Then I would suggest placing your filter on the tank (without washing it or anything), and letting it cycle for 24 hours before adding the fish. You can leave an airstone in the old tank for your fish and they should be fine in it until you let the new tank cycle for a day. Then you can add the fish. But check the parameters daily for a couple of weeks to make sure your tank does not go into a mini cycle, if it does you will have to lower the parameters with different methods.

I have to let you know though that the loach and goldfish are not compatible, goldfish require cold water and loaches need warmer water.

  6. well sand is very hard to clean. If it helps i got 3 yoyo loaches and they're small. I read that they needed sand because they might hurt their hair that comes out of its top lip(idk whats is called lol. hope u get what i mean) and i have gravel. Their little hairs arent damaged. Infact i saw them move the rocks b4 searching for the food or w/e they nibble on. so just keep the gravel. (If u want, im just making a suggestion)
