  2. yes.

get some chicken, or beef or pork stock

add some rice flour or even cornstarch melted in water

salt pepper half onion(optional),remove onion after cooking.

It's called a veloute sauce without the butter. one of the 5 foundation sauces. and white in color.

  3. Yes very possible! Recipes:

    White Sauce

    3 Tablespoons vegan margarine

4 Tablespoons corn starch or potato flour

2 cups  plain soy or other plant milk

    3/4 cup water

    1 clove garlic, chopped

    1 small onion, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste, other seasonings of your choice.

Melt margarine then add sifted cornstarch very slowly, stirring all the time. Cook over medium heat for a few minutes until smooth, without colouring. Remove pan from heat, whisk in the milk gradually. Put back on the heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook for 5 more minutes. Season.

For a thicker coating sauce, use a little more margarine and cornstarch but keep the liquid measure the same. For a thin sauce, double the liquid. For variety you can add parsley, chives, horseradish, mustard, capers, etc. For a cheezy flavour add 1 to 2 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes, to taste.

Cream Sauce With Herbs and No Dairy

1 (8 ounce) package silken tofu

1 1/2 cups soy milk or other plant  milk

    2 tablespoons vegan margarine

    2 tablespoons minced garlic

    1 tablespoon nutritional yeast

    1/2 teaspoon paprika

    2 teaspoons dried dill weed

1/2 teaspoon salt-free herb and spice blend

    1/4 cup water

    1 tablespoon cornstarch

Crumble tofu into a blender or food processor. Puree briefly, then add the soy milk, margarine, garlic, nutritional yeast, paprika, dill and spice blend. Process the mixture until it is smooth.

Pour the mixture into a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Combine the cornstarch and water, pour into pan with the sauce. Continue cooking over medium heat until sauce has thickened, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and allow sauce to cool slightly, adjust flavors to taste and serve over pasta or roasted vegetables.

    White Sauce

    nutritional yeast

soya milk or other plant milk

    1 k**b vegan margarine

    salt

    pepper

    1 tsp Dijon mustard

This recipe has approximate amounts as it depends on how thick you wish the sauce to be. Mall of the ingredients in a saucepan and heat until the ingredients are blended together and the sauce is warm.

  5. Thick , Rich Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Roux/White Sauce

    1 tablespoons non-hydrogenated margarine

    1-2 tablespoon olive oil

2 tablespoons extra-fine rice flour (see note)

2 tablespoons garbanzo flour (chickpea, gram)

    1 teaspoon potato starch

    1 1/4 cups gluten-free vegetable stock

    1 1/4 cups rice milk

    1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

    1/2 teaspoon dried basil (optional)

    1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

    1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)

    1/4 teaspoon dried dill (optional)

    Directions

1Note: The rice flour you usually find is rather gritty (Arrowhead Mills, etc), so it is best to get your rice flour at an Asian market, where you can find powdered rice flour--it has the same feel as cornstarch.

2In a small bowl, mix flours and potato starch with a fork until mixed together.
