its kick boxing gear why do you care what it smells like? not very manly.

Depending on the gear, a mild soap and water wipe down will help - also - letting it air out after it's been used will help.

I usually hang mine out of a window over night, which dries it out and keeps the smell to a minimum.  However make sure it is an upstairs window, because you don't want them to get pinched (it does happen).

lysol works wonders

also a mix of about 20% bleach 80% water

put it in a spray bottle, couple nice sprays, let your gear sit for a few hours, it wont cause any damage, kills all the germs and smells slightly of bleach for a while

I'm a bellydancer, but we get the same sweaty smell in our costumes...I know--just killed that fantasy.  BUT how we get rid of it is a mixture of 1/2 vodka, 1/2 water in a spray bottle. After you use your gear, sit it out, spray it with the mixture, and let it dry, preferably in the sun.  Knocks the smell out and there's no alcohol smell once it dries.  Also is color safe!
