How do i manage jalepenos???????

i dont know how to manage my jalepeno plant. how big do the peppers get and when do i pick them? how do i pick them? it the first harvest smaller? please tell me all that you know for the best answer

  1. How big they get depends on the particular strain but they can get up to four inches.  They will change color from green to a deep purple or red when they are ripe and will start to "cork" which is lines of stress marks in the skin.  You can definitely pick and use them while they are smaller and still green and if you want to pickle them or make salsa they stay firmer if picked green.  When you harvest cut the stem with a pair of scissors rather than just pulling the pepper off the plant.  This reduces damage to the plant


  2. They get around 4 to 5 inches, you can pick them, however I generally wait until I get 3 or 4 ready before I pick them. They should yield continually until frost.
