How do i measure the striding between show jumps?

Im setting up the jumps in my field and i dont know how far apart to put the jumps for doubles with 1 stride, 2 strides or 3strides inbetween. HELP please...!

For a horse, It should be 12 feet per stride, with 3 - 6 feet in front of/ behind each jump for takeoff and landing.

12 feet per stride

half a stride for landing

half a stride for take off

bounce--12 feet

1 stride--24 feet

2 stride--36 feet

3 stride--48 feet

etc.

i know how to count strides about 3  human steps  = 1 horse stride but i dont know how far apart
