I was using my countax today and it lost all drive, at first it was slow, then it stopped, the engine was still running and so were the cutters and the grass box brush, but no drive. i looked underneath and saw the belt was very slack, but there is nothing in my owners book , so does anybody know how you tighten the belt which is the highest one from the engine to the gearbox at the back.

  1. Not familiar with that brand of mower but on most there is no adjustment.  When the belt gets worn to the point that it will not work you just replace it.  When you look under the mower it is slack because you most likely have the brake set.  When you let off of the brake clutch pedal it tightens the belt.  But if it is not driving the gearbox it is time to replace the belt.  Make sure that as you remove the old belt you take note of how it will go back on.
