  1. So you are trying to stop some of the Start-up programs from not starting up when you boot up? Easy solution, it'll require you to download something though. Believe me, this isn't any unknown software, it's very strong and I do use it.

    Download; CCleaner; http://www.ccleaner.com/download

Once downloaded, please install, again once installed, click "Tools" on the left hand side of the software and then click the "Start-up" tab.

Click one of the start-up programs you would like to stop from starting up at boot and then either click "Disable" or "Delete". Do as many as you want and restart, it should work. If you want you can then keep the CCleaner or uninstall it, it's totally up to you.

  2. Bianca just type in msconfig on the run app

  3. Computers can get slower due to programs running in the background.

They get worse over time, you need to stop all those things loading in the background.

    Start, run "msconfig"

Go to start up and un-check as many of the processes as you can. (you only really need your anti-virus/security software running at start up)

Be brave as you can always re-check any that cause things to stop working.

You will be surprised how many useless programs are started by software you have installed.

  4. To control what starts with Windows:

Click Start and then Run.  (Vista – Start>All Programs>Accessories>Run).  In the run box, type "msconfig" without the quotes and then hit "Enter".  This will open the System Configuration Utility.  Click the "Startup" tab.  Now remove the check mark from any and all programs that you “do not” want to start or "boot" with Windows.  Now click apply and then click OK.

You will need to restart your system.  When the system starts you will see a box stating that you used the Config. utility, put a check in "Don't show this box at startup".

    That should do it.

Do not remove any check marks from your security software.  You want it to load with your operating system.  As for the rest of the programs that are set to load with the OS, you will just have to experiment.  Stuff like Adobe Reader, Gama loaders, Word, etc, can be turned off.  They do not need to load with the OS, you can just click on their icons to launch these programs.

  5. Remove programs u don't need from start up menu. However not all programs are listed in the start menu. Some are hidden. Also consider u may have spyware, ect. on ur computer which may also slow ur computer. Anyways spyware or not, if you are in extremely big need of speeding ur computer up in every single way possible, then i would highly recommend putting in the system recovery disk in your computer ( the disk that came with ur computer when u first bought it new ). This disk will erase all data from ur computer and restore ur computer to completely new again and will run fast like when u first bought it. It will remove all spyware u may have, it will remove all start programs thats slowing your computer down. It gives the works. Keep in mind this will erase all data from your computer. Meaning it will erase all important stuff like ur pictures, ur personal documents, everything on ur computer

  6. msconfig
