The baby wet the play pin and I cleaned it twice before storing it. Now, I've reassembled it and the smell is still there, what will help besides soap and water?

  1. If the urine is in fabric, sprinkle baking soda on it.  You can brush/wipe it off after about an hour.  If that doesn't work, soak everywhere that got wet with the urine with Febreeze Antibacterial (?) or Lysol disinfectant spray. Leave it outside to dry in the fresh air, if possible.  If that don't do it, I don't know what will!  It's probably your memory of it making you still "smell" it.

  2. Try mixing pine-sol and water. It sounds nuts but it works really fast.

  3. try a lemon solution.  The acid in the lemon will cut through the smell.

  4. Half vinegar and half water solution will neutralize that odor. The scent of the vinegar will diminish also. Or you can try a small solution of baking soda and water.

  5. A solution of 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water should help, as previously mentioned. You could also use a solution of borax and water. Dissolve 1 cup borax in a large bucket of water. Scrub the play pin with this solution. Let it sit for a few minutes and rinse. if you want, you could even wipe it down with the vinegar solution afterward for an extra boost.

Both vinegar and borax are great deodorizers and they kill germs. People used to use borax to clean and deodorize cloth diapers. The vinegar smell dissipates as it dries.

  6. vinegar and water
