it depends. how long have you had it? does it look like it swallowed a golf ball? has it had contact with a male? did you get it from an irresponsible pet store or breeder?

Her nipples will be more prominant, and she will gain a LOT of weight in her belly.  By the end of it, she'll be shaped like a bowling pin, or look like she swallowed a light bulb.  It takes only about 3 weeks for them to give birth.

It's really difficult to tell if a rat is pregnant up until about 4 to 5 days till they deliver. There nipples will be a little bit more pronounced and pregnant mothers will start building stuff for there nest. They will look like they have gained weight but not really enough to tell just by looking at them. Going to a vet will be costly and not needed in this situation. Rats will deliver there babies between 18 and 21 days after conception. About 4 to 5 before the babies come mom will balloon up. She will look like she swallowed a tennis ball. But until then its really hard to tell. I have expertise in this area. I have been breeding and raising rats for 7 years now and when they are early in pregnancy its just to difficult to tell. Some of my girls would hoard food and hide it in the bedding when they were pregnant. But that isnt a good tell tail sign because alot of my non pregnant girls would do that to. The best way to tell is time.
