  1. RUb down with medium sandpaper - wipe clean with a lint free cloth with a little white spirit on it to remove the excess dust.

A good quality undercoat or primer and then gloss/satin paint over the top once primer is dry.

Use a good quality brush - not a cheapy from Tesco.

    OR,

Spray paint - primer and topcoat.

  2. a brush?

  3. Strip first (the chair, not you), using paint stripper, to remove old varnish.

Remove the stripped varnish with a cloth (using gloves as paint stripper strips skin as well as paint).

Clean with warm water, and leave to dry.

Rub down with fine glass-paper until smooth.

    Paint with white undercoat.

Rub down lightly with fine glass-paper until smooth.

Paint with gloss (or satin) white paint.

    Job done.

  4. This is relatively easy...

Firstly, if your pine is treated (varnished or stained) then I would sand it down thoroughly.

Then wipe down with a sponge using sugar soap (best option - available from DIY stores).

You can then go about repainting. Make sure you use specialist wood paint and a high quality brush. You may need two coats depending on the paint.

Good luck and have fun :)
