  1. I have painted a few of my cars interior trim with VHT wrinkle finish. It's cool looking, it's durable, and it's different.

It comes in many different colors, but my favorite is black. It doesn't show fingerprints and if it does by chance chip, it's easy to touch up. You have to follow the directions to the letter, but the end results are awesome. Try it!

  2. they make a spray paint just for plastic , go to your autoparts store and ask for it, they will fix you up.

  3. You can buy the vinyl spray paint from any parts store.  Try to use vinyl paint because it will take the heat better.  Be sure to clean the parts completely before painting them or the paint will flake off in a couple days.  At the very least clean them with dawn dish soap and water, if you use a cleaner don't use any fancy armor all stuff, buy some sort of all purpose cheap cleaner, it won't leave any residue behind and that is what you want.

When you paint apply light coats, not heavy, the first coat should barely cover the parts, by the third coat you should be able to barely tell what the original color was and by the fifth coat I'd say you are done, but you be the judge.  When you spray them get a cardboard box and cut off one side so that it only has three sides, put this around your part to keep dust from blowing on them.  Also before you put your parts on it take a spritzer bottle full of water and spray a mist over the cardboard, this will make any dust on it stick to it instead of flying around when you start spraying.  Paint in a well ventilated area, if you get light headed get fresh air immediatley, that stuff is bad for your brain.

Honestly, don't expect it to look real awesome, although it will be the color you want, it  will still look like  you pulled your dash apart and spray painted it.  There just isn't anyway around that.  The professional looking dash pieces you see on TV are custom made from fiberglass and painted with base/clear just like you would paint a corvette.  If you were to put base/clear on plastic I guarantee you it will crack from the plastic expanding and contracting in sunlight/shade, the plastic is just too cheap.
