I know that some of you answering these questions went to college for your pilot training. I am wondering how you pay for it? I heard that you borrow it from the government and then when you have a job you start paying it back slowly. Can you tell me if this is true or if there is another way?

  1. I live in Europe and was able to get the 125.000 Euro loan via the bank and someone who would be my guarantee (and still is). Her house is the guarantee for the bank now.

  2. Two words.  Student Loans.

  3. I didn't go to an aviation college, like that, but I got a Sally Mae education loan (finally paid off).  These are typically 10-15 year loans.  You're going to be looking at a monthly payment that is comparable to a decent car's monthly payment.   You also might need a cosigner on the loan.

    Look into education loans.

  4. You need to look into getting an educational loan.  Almost all banks offer them.

The aviation school will also counsel you on where to get a loan.
