    If you're self employed, you attach Schedule SE to your From 1040 tax return to calculate the self-employment tax.  The tax rate is 15.3% of 92.35% of your net profit from the business activity.  You figure your net profit on Schedule C or C-EZ and attach that to your tax return as well.
