if you have a favorite player than you could root for that team. or if theres a player you like coming from college, than cheer for the team hes drafted to. i would just say be yourself and be different. dont cheer for the bandwagon teams just because they are popular right now. i feel if you choose to do that, then dont bother calling yourself a fan.

The easiest route is going with the team they show the most on your local stations, it will be easier to keep up with them. Or go with what suits you, if you like hard hitting defense, maybe go with the Steelers, Jaguars, or Chargers. If you like your offense with a pounding running game then you might like the Chargers, the Vikings, or the Steelers. If you want more of an aerial assault, you could go with the Colts, the Cowboys, or the Patriots. It all depends on what some of your favorite aspects of the game are.

Watch a few games, join a fantasy league, find a player you like, and then stick with his team. I started liking the Steelers because of Troy Polamalu. I saw this nice guy sitting on the sidelines praying and thought that's unusual to see. I started following him and he ended up being an unbelievable football player. Prior to that i liked the home team. Panthers.

Ok, the way to pick an NFL team is too watch fotoball for a couple months maybe a season and pick a team that you like, dont go based on a player because if your player gets traded you would have to switch teams.

There are a few ways to choose. First, local. Check out some of the teams close to you like St. Louis, Denver, Kansas City or Minnesota. Another way would be find a player you like and go with his team. And another would be to just watch as much football as you can and decide which team is the most exciting to watch. Probably my least favorite choice would be to pick a team that's a winner. Now realize those teams are also hated by others so you may run into some flack if your local team is a rival of yours. And never forget that 'underdogs' need fans too! Have fun!
