How do i plan a vacation around a space shuttle launch?

It is very hard to plan a vacation around a Shuttle launch.  I have tried several times and failed.  I did go to the NASA web site and they will give you the projected launch schedule.  However, that schedule is about as solid as jello.  I have even waited until two weeks before launch and then made plans and gone.  Guess what......closest that I have ever got is to T minus 1 hour and it was scrubbed.   I think that it is just plain luck!!!  I've spend as much as a week waiting around and still no go.

   However, that does not mean that you cannot still plan a trip to Orlando (Disneyworld, etc.) and if by chance a launch is still planned and looks good, take the quick trip to Canaveral to see it.  Plan a bit extra time to get there as there are many others like yourself who are waiting around and hoping.

Of course you must note that the dates are tentative and many launches are delayed.  Good luck!  I was lucky and saw a launch and it was truly worth the effort.
