How do i play sudoku? is there a pattern?

my grandma bought this sudoku game.the problem is,HOW DO I PLAY IT?! help!

what kind of sudoku is it? is it a colour cube?or numbers?

if its a color cube u must know that the color in the middle never change(thats its secret),if its numbers try to put the numbers in an X form,the rest will be easy(since u will have the four bases),if its another kind of sudouko plz let me know ok? lol

The object of Sudoku is to place the numbers 1-9 into the grid so that when you are finished each row, each column, and each 3x3 box shown have each number exactly once.  Here's a site for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoku

I find the best way to do it is to 1st look for 2 of the same numbers in the top 3 boxes and follow them along.

Then do the same for the 3 vertical boxes in the same coloum as the empty one.

Then I just go through noting down what could be in each box in small writing in the top corners and in pencil (it usualy helps)

Then I go through the boxes, rows and coloums to see if anything helps there.

I've probably confused you more.....

There are many strategies to playing sudoku, and the harder the puzzle, the more strategies you need to use.  Sometimes peoplecallit a math game, but no math is involved.  It is a game of strategy and logic.  The intent is that each sudoku puzzle can be solved logically without guessing.  Do searches for "sudoku tips" and "sudoku strategies", etc., and you will find lots of help.  Best of luck with it and have fun.  These links will get you started.
