How do i play video files that end with .mkv?

I just downloaded a lot of videos from torrent they are anime and its a file that ends with .mkv please tell me how to play the files!! thanks

  1. I also would have recommended VLC Player, because it can play your .mkv files, but I am however recommending Gomplayer.

    Gomplayer is also free and can doe what VLC can. but Gomplayer is a much easier media player to use. I found VLC player not the easiest of players.

    When you decide on gomplayer. install and then go to

    preferences s  --  others  --  select all

    File Types   =  Codec

    Now you can play .mkv files

  2. You needs a mediaplayer, that using matroska decoder software for .mkv hi-res video. Snow Player, for example, http://splayer.info, there's "Main -> Help -> Search codec" menu, where you can download matroska codec.

  3. open it with itunes quicktime

  4. VLC, it plays pretty much everything

  5. As has already been stated VLC Player is ideal http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
