  1. Presuming your computer has a drawer loading optical drive that reads DVDs, rip the DVD.

then cut the stuff you don't want.

Never put a miniDVD in a slot loading optical drive.

    Other alternatives:

    1) If the optical drive on your computer is a slot loader or only reads CDs, get an external drawer loading optical drive for you computer then follow the ripping instructions.

    2) Use the AV cables that came with the camera and use an "Analog/Digital Bridge" like

    or

    for firewire transfer

    Warning:

DVD based camcorders capture the worst available quality. The video you get out of any of these methods will not be very good.

  2. It really depends on what file type your camera clips are in.  YouTube accepts .WMV, .AVI, .MOV. and .MPG formats, which usually covers clips taken by camcorders, digital cameras etc.  I usually edit my clips in Windows Movie Maker (because I'm cheap) which comes with windows.  If you have a Mac you can use iMovie.  For more help I suggest you check out the YouTube help pages/ videos which you can find here:   http://www.google.com/support/youtube/?h...
