Well I decided late that I want to tryout for my school soccer team. I have enough skill to make the team but my running and stamina is my downfall (I'm a goalie). Tryouts are in 10 days and I need to prepare for a mile and a half timed run. I am using a tredmill, so what is a good workout plan that will have me well prepared for this run?

  1. Personally, I can't stand treadmills because you're only looking at the same exact thing for the duration of your run and this discourages me from completing the entire run because of extreme boredom. You might prefer running outside. You should start with maybe two miles a day and gradually increase your mileage and pace. If any of your friends who are also trying out are having the same problem, train together (and, if it helps, do your timed run together as well) and your 1.5mi run should be a breeze!

    Good luck!

  2. Run around the neighborhood rather than on a treadmill. If you are looking to improve your mile time, train by running shorter distances to build your speed. Like if you normally run 1600m try running 800m 2-4 times a week. Just eat healthy and don't eat 2 hours before you run, it will cause a sidestich.
