  1. READ A LOT - classic literature, and good newspapers like the NY Times and Washington Post.  Learn Latin and Greek elements of English so that you can analyze unfamiliar words.

  2. Get a good SAT review book and learn as many latin roots as you can.

  3. There are some free SAT practice sites:

    http://www.number2.com/

    http://www.satexamprep.com/

    http://www.collegeboard.com/student/test...

You can also practice vocabulary skills here:

    http://www.emints.org/ethemes/resources/...

    http://www.nea.org/lessons/2004/tt041018...

And, while you're at it, go here & learn new vocabulary words & feed the hungry at the same time!  :)

I hope you do well on your SATs!  Good luck!

  4. Read many Time magazines and also Read the dictionary.

  5. Reading, first and foremost, will help you improve your scores the most on the SAT vocab section. If you are crunched for time, I would suggest using Tutorfox.com's sat guide. They provide a list of the most commonly covered words on the exam. If you memorize that list, you should be fine for the SAT.
