Question:

How do i prevent my cavity to turn abscess?

i'm going on vacation and i don't have time to go to the dentist. is there anything i can do to prevent it from turning abscess in the meantime.

  1. If it is a really bad cavity you could try bone wax.  or temp. filling.  you can get it at almost any pharmacy store and even wal-mart.  you just pinch a little off and stick it in the cavity and then wipe off the excess.  But you can't really chew on that side because you would pull the wax out.  It does work though.  I used the stuff for about a month while waiting on my insurance to kick in.  If the cavity isn't that bad just leave it alone until you come back from vacation.  But buy and pack the bone wax anyway just in case.  Maybe even a tube of orajel (SP), that way if it starts hurting your not left to suffer.


  2. In some of the US drug stores, (Rite Aid I believe) you can purchase what they call a temporary filling compound.  I've never tried it, but I've heard good things about it.  Good luck and enjoy your vacation.
