  1. chew gum and swallow your saliva

you can only get earbleeds if you have a head cold

  2. Chew gum.

  3. Actually, the usually don't pop while taking off. They usually pop in the middle of the air. Take a big or two pack (15 pieces) of gum. Or if you live near a Costco, buy them in bulk. They'll still pop though. There's nothing you can do about it...You can prevent it from hurting as much. Try not to fall asleep. They'll hurt even more when you wake up.

  4. when u feel the sensation in your ears... force a BIG YAWN out it'll ping your head right back ito where it should be

u'll know it has worked when u find urself able to hear again.

some people find they get really sore ear ache... never bleed tho - someone told u a porkie me thinks!

  5. I've never heard of people getting ear bleeds, I never have and have been flying from a very young age.

Just suck boiled sweets during take off and landing, wait till you've got to a constant altitude before stopping sucking them (I usually end up having about 4 because i get bored and bite them!)

If your going on holiday hope you have a good time.

  6. suck a mint apparently

  7. gum.

  8. Try chewing gum or sucking a boiled sweet both of those can help.

  9. suck on a boiled sweet!! by that i mean a hard sweet not a actual boiled sweet cuz you'll burn your mouth, like i did!!!

  10. I don't think you can stop the popping but the best way I know of to get rid of the ear problem is to squeeze your nose with your thumb and forefinger and then try to blow out your nose as hard as you can.  It doesn't matter if your mouth is closed or not. This equalizes the pressure in your ears quickly.

  11. Chew gum and force yourself to yawn...at least, that's what works for me and my friend.

Also, you don't get ear bleeds from it unless you just normally get ear bleeds for some reason.

    Bye.

  12. My answer seem stupid too but trust me I never knew about chewing gum myself but did try some odd tricks on my own. One of them was when my ears were like (how should I put it) closing and I didn't notice, suddenly I naturally swallowed saliva and it really opened it up. Since then I've always done it and it helped.

To be honest, don't know about ear bleeding at all.

What I gather from other answers is even in chewing gum and drinking water you still swallow anyway. Why have something sweet (which in case is disastrous for me as I have sugar), water seems fine.

    Thanks

  13. suck on a sweet but make sure its small so that(sounds silly) you can get a good suck on it as this will help your ears not to pop!!

they say chewing  gum also works but i think a sweet is better!!

air hostesses suck on sweets so their ears dont pop either!

    x

  14. Chew Gum. It works.

  15. Chew gum :P

  16. chew gum nd plug ya ears

  17. Sucking a boiled sweet does help,I've tried it.Never heard of anyones ears bleeding, probably an old wives tale.

  18. ok, there is no real solution, but you can prevent the bleeding by poping your ear (swallowing, opening mouth wide) because the difference in pressure causes a liquid in your ear to swell, and if you don't pop the ear bone back into place (the popping you hear), it will swell so much that it will damage your ear bone and your ear, causing the bleeding. Chewing gum can help you pop your ears because it makes you open your mouth.

  19. Put ear plugs in before take off and landing. Apparently, that blocks the severity of the pressure. I have tried every remedy listed here, and ear plugs work the best for me. (Make sure they are good ear plugs...not just fingers...haha...)... they even sell them in the airport for people with ear pain. Good luck.

  20. chew some gum !

  21. I usually bring some water, and just take a sip and let it flow to the back of my mouth and spread out, then consciously swallow it and kind of... flex my ear muscles. Works like a charm.

Alternatively, I've heard chewing gum helps-- but I am pretty sure that that's because gum makes you salivate, which makes you swallow.

  22. Gumm

  23. Stick a cucumber in your left ear. a parsnip in your right ear and a radish up each nostril.

  24. its fine for your ears to pop....

but chewing gum works wonders ive learned.

  25. They said you can chew gum but that didn't work for me. Try to yawn, that helps a little.

  26. The best thing to do is chew gum. I always do that when I travel and it helps!! I have heard it from other people as well.

  27. Suck a sweet prefably a boiled one.

  28. Chewing gum is The best way.

Usually it happens when people have colds my Friend had a cold and it popped after minute or 2 during take off and there was blood coming out.

  29. Boiled sweets are pretty good, as you have to swallow the saliva produced and this helps your ears adjust to cabin pressurisation which is what causes them to pop.  I know that when my daughter was a 9 month old baby, I was advised to bottle feed her on take off and landing so that her ears would not pop.

You can get ear bleeds from this, though it is not common.

Try swallowing when your ears pop, sucking on a sweet or drinking from a baby's bottle.  Those are the only things I know that actually work.

  30. Chew gum and swallow - I don't mean swallow the gum - just swallow and yawn to release the pressure that builds up.

Chewing gum helps to prevent the pressure from building up.

    Have a great trip!!
