  1. Well, even though you played JV for a year and did well, most Varsity players will want you to pay your dues before you start! Just go all out during practices and games whenever you have time on the field-- show them you love the game. Gain their respect through your actions, not through talk! :)

    Good luck!

  2. just go out there an perform...if you're good the coaches will notice...not become one of those loud mouths because coaches hate that

  3. This is the best way, If you haven't tryed to tell anyone then tell someone, or play football at a park or something with your friends were everyone can see you, make sure to play very good and make your friends look if possible so you can look good.

  4. Just ignore them and do what you do, and don't listen to what they say because they want everyone to prove to them intsead of them helping out the team and being a true leader. So, just listen to the coaches and not what the player tells you.

  5. I'm gonna give it to ya straight. You're not strong enough to start at the Varsity level. You should spend a lot more time in the weight room. Especially if you want to play defensive end when you're going up against tackles every play. Most starting Varsity tackles I know bench over 300 lbs and squat over 400 lbs. Along with lifting you should get some running in on your own, run a couple miles in the evening when it's not so hot out and run bleachers after practice.

    Good luck.

  6. I don't care what you bench or squat or how tall you are or how much you weigh.  I don't even care what your stats are this year.

Go out on the field and show me that you're better than everyone else I could put in at the same position.

  7. You need to make sure you CONTAIN! that is the most important part of a defensive ends position. you should show up to every summer lifting session and go to as many camps as yout high school offers. going to these will show the coaches that you have dedication. Sometimes its all polotics when it comes to starting but doing these things can definitley not hurt.

  8. go out there dont talk what u cant back up show them u aint scared and just play ur game

  9. Theres a few ways really, but I'm only familiar with one way. My advice to you is just talk when you need to, and don't talk too much or try to be a lame hero or a suck up to the coaches, not only will your players hate you, but the coaches will too because they will think your annoying. Other than that, just do your best at everything, especially in hitting drills. Oh and don't be afraid to help out the coaches once in a while, like if they left a dummy behind and want a player to get it, just voulenteer right away to go grab it but don't make it a habbit. Its hard to explain, sorry if this didnt answer your question or if you didnt understand it well.

  10. You have to earn respect

and in football as a D end you should cause pain and makes sure that no1 trucks you jukes you or make a play on your side of the line
