How do i put a film onto a DVD from my computer?

I have a film on my computer and want to transfer it onto a DVD, but i have brought blank discs such as DVD+RW and DVD-R and am still not able to do this.

it promts me to insert a recordable disc which i have

any ideas ?

check to see if your drive accepts DVD+R or DVR-R media (many now accept both)

First of all, your disc drive is a DVD-Burner not just a DVD-Player right? Also, make sure the discs haven't been used previously.

Another thing, if you have more then one disc drive, make sure the burning program is pointed at the drive that can burn DVD's.
