  1. Don't sweat man, you can't install DirectX 9 over top of 10.  Vista can operate in both DirectX 10 or DirectX 9, and installing 9 doesn't remove 10. If you don't have an Nvidia 8000 series or greater, or an ATI 2000 series or greater, it doesn't even matter because older cards don't even support Direct X 10.  If you are having a problem or getting an error message, post it on here so I can tell you what is going wrong. If you aren't getting an error message, then you are fine. Like I said, 9 can not be installed over top of 10, it just doesn't work that way.

  2. http://www.techmixer.com/download-direct...

Just go download it and it will re-write over 9.

  3. Was at the microsoft web site - looks like they have an update to 9c - didnt find any mention of direct x 10

    August 2008

The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX

  4. perform system restore to a previous date before the date you did that, system restore should tell you what you will loose ( it might tell you that you will loose directX 9.0,

                  or

You can manually trace to program file in local disk, check for files of direct x 9 and delete them. If you got the direct X 10 cd, install it again, it will overwrite and take the place of DX9.

or you can use this link to download the full package
