  1. Why do you want to give him up?

I would advise you NOT to give him away, free.  Animal labs etc acquire animals this way.

Contact a rescue and see if they will take him.

  2. Give him to a rescue shelter!

If you put a free ad in the paper then there's a chance that he could really go to an animal lab.

Would you really wish that on your pet?

  3. www.craigslist.com is a great site to put up ads

However, I will advise you to not give your cat away for free. It's likely he won't find a good home that way. Instead, charge a small fee to ensure that someone is serious about adopting it and make sure you meet or talk the person beforehand.

A better idea might be to ask your friends or family or even post local fliers around your town! That way you know the people interested and you can make sure he's going to a good place.

  4. go to kijiji.com and post your ad there

  5. First of all, you must understand that a pet is a lifelong commitment.  Having said that... I would encourage you NOT to put in ad that gives the cat away free.  People who hoard animals tend to love getting their pets this way, and they don't provide a loving environment for their animals.  They collect as many animals as they can, thinking they're doing a good deed, and end up not being able to properly care for them.

Some might think it's funny to torture a cat they get for free.  If you offer the cat for a small (20.00) fee, more reputable people will come forth.

Sometimes the best option is to take your pet to a no-kill shelter.  That way, they can screen for potential adopters.

I really wish you didn't have to give away your cat.
