How do i put videos from ares on a dvd?

i've been trying to put videos from my pc on blank dvds for the longest while but it never seems to play. the pc reads it sometimes but never on a dvd player.

what format do i have to use to get it right?

i have the Imtoo mpeg encoder as well as nero...

1. FORMAT: AVI / MPG* (avi works no problem, mpg4 won't)

2. BURN TO DVD WITH NERO (dvd drive which can burn necessary)
