How do i quote for a research paper?

So i know how to quote normally, but if i'm going to start with something like:

"According to George Bush"

and then write the quote, am i supposed to write something to cite it? Because i know i could be like:

"I am the president" (Bush).

but if i already said his name, then what?

You should use his name again if you want to make a reference. Example:

"I am the president" [Bush, 2005]
