  1. don't find another

  2. dont!

Just search the book on google and read about it that way you know what happened in the story

see that's a easy way to read a story that you dont like :)

  3. find a student book review, they've probably covered all the stuff you need to know. or get a good film of it that stays to the book well.

  4. I haven't actually read the book but the movie, starring helena bonham carter is really good so maybe watching this first might ignite a bit of passion for the book.  I also hated reading all that stuff for my exams but then I had a really cool substitute english teacher who told us that most of the authors of that time were into opium smoking and wife swapping parties, so maybe I'm weird but that kind of made them much less boring people and made the weirdness make a bit more sense and fun.  personally I wouldn't recommend looking up shortened versions, you want to do well don't you?

  5. If you dont like the book then try viewing the film or you can research for its summary in the internet or something but the only key to finish reading a book you didnt like is....patience

    Best of luck!

  6. research the story on wikipedia or something, then don't read the book if its that painful.

That way you'll know the story

  7. Read it all- you might change your mind :)

  8. Note to all recommending movie versions of Frankenstein: there is no accurate film version of the book.

I sympathize in a way. I had to read that book repeatedly in school, and I disliked it intensely. However, you just have to grin and bear it. It's one of those books everyone *should* read at least once. Get it over with quickly, like ripping a band-aid off. You'll never have to read it again if you don't want to. Unless you become an English major. Which I don't recommend, if you don't want to read and reread Frankenstein. Good luck.

  9. When I have to get through a book I don't like, sometimes I get the audiobook and listen to it while I'm doing other things, like driving or working out.  Some recordings are really good, and they "breathe new life" into a story that isn't doing much for me.

Good luck!  It'll be over soon.

  10. i don't think you'll be read it if you don't want to i mean your concentration is not there so it wont sink in i recommend what andy c said read plot summary and such on wikipedia and you'll know the story

  11. Just make a goal to read 30 pages a day. Just treat it like it is a job or something. After you've read 30 pages, put it down and give yourself a reward like an ice cream cone or something that you enjoy.

  12. sparknotes.com

  13. Talk to your teacher about it.

Or just lump it. If you want the grade you've got to do the work.

  14. In life you will often have to do things you don't want to. So just grit your teeth and get down to it.

Life isn't a bed of roses, we all have to do things we dislike, and the sooner you understand this the better.

BTW, Frankenstein is quite a good book, I read it myself recently.

  15. After reading each chapter, read the sparknotes version of it, so if the fact you hate the book led you to pay less attention, you will still be able to understand the characters and the plot. But DO NOT JUST READ THE SPARKNOTES! If a teacher asks questions on a specific part of the book not detailed in the sparknotes, you will have no idea what is going on. If you read the book, you might remember something like that. Plus, when it comes time to write and essay or something, you will need to be able to recall specific moments in the book that may not be in the sparknotes.

  16. There are books which you read for pleasure and which suits your expectations. You also read books to gain knowledge which may be boring but still will give you lot of information. There are also books written 100 or 200 years back with a language style that could really exhaust you.

To understand and appreciate literature over a period of time you need to cultivate the habit of patience and perseverance,

Since the book" Frankenstein" is prescribed in your school, as a first step read fast to understand what the story is without getting too deep.

Have a second revision and try to remember names and incidents so that you can write an essay if asked for.
