ok im having trouble recognizing a cover 2 defensive look. I understand that you can run it out of a 4-3 or 3-4 or any seven man setup.

my coach tells us (receivers) never to block a hard corner, which im pretty sure means just a corner playing closeup. and to block the safety if its a hard corner. does this sound right?

and if it is a cover 2 defensive look then i would block the corner right?

  1. it really depends on if its a run or passing and on whether ur the slot reciever.on a cover 2 you would block the corner and to tell its a cover 2 look at the safeties there more far back and split the field evenly.the safeties give it away all the time on the cover 2.dont get distracted if the covers play tight.

  2. Dude your confused as h**l. The cover two defense is a zone defense that has the corners playing close up. So according to your play you wouldn't block him. Because he is not releasing with you. His zone is the same spot he is standing. He wont move. The cover two is when the two safetys back up and play deep and so does the MLB. So you would block a safety or the MLB. If you still dont understand try this site. http://espn.go.com/ncf/columns/davie/143...

  3. In cover 2 the corners will probably be playing up on you because they have flats, but if its man then they might be off a little (depends on the corner and what he likes)

You'll be able to get him pretty easily if its cover 2 because their most likely coming up to chuck you and try to get underneath to the flats so you won't have much of a problem getting to him...
