  1. I am not sure which model Dell you have or how old it is, but if the system was bought after 7/16/2004 it should have the restore option listed below.

Please visit this link on how to do a PC Restore:  http://support.dell.com/support/topics/g...  be sure to choose XP when following the guide. Basically you will just need to press Ctrl and F11 at the Dell screen when the computer first turns on. Please note that this type of restore will remove everything that has been installed/added (programs, data/files etc.) on the computer, and it will return the computer to the state when you first received it from Dell.

If the system does not have this restore option you can request a free set of disks for your computer by filling the form out located here:  https://support.dell.com/support/topics/... These disks will allow you to perform a manual reinstall.

    I hope this helps.

  2. Dell has a builtin factory reset.  If you can find the F key, probably F11, when you boot up, hold down that key.  It will allow you to reset the puter to factory settings (the way it was shipped).

    Could be F12

  3. when you boot there may be an option in the bios to restore. most likely one of the f1 kinda keys

  4. You can't reformat without a Windows XP disc. You need to go buy one. >.>

  5. This should be all you need to know, and its a step by step aswell to help things for you.
