How do i register my lawn-care business so i can get a tax i.d. number?

as you can tell i dint go to business school so answering this question and giving me any other advise will be gratelly apprecated!!!!! p.s. i live in nashville tennessee

You need to go to the state board of equalization.  They will set you up, and even once a quarter they have seminars to make things real easy, and show you the ropes of how to pay your taxes and keep them isolated from other capital.

~~Just get a business license in the city where your business is located. Then call or go on line to www.irs.gov and apply for a number. You will get it very quickly. You will need to tell them if it is a sole proprietrship (meaning you are the only owner) or if it's a partnership. It's a very easy process.~~

Federal or State?

For federal, you use form SS-4 and indicate that you are a sole proprietor (if it's just you and you didn't set yourself up as a partnership, corporation or llc).  You can say it's for banking reasons.

When you file your 1040 schedule C, you indicate the EIN.
