How do i relieve the fuel pressure on a 99 ford taurus. I need 2 install a fuel filter.?

let it sit for two hours and the pressure should relieve itself.

I believe the fuel filter is held on by two clips.

just use a screwdriver to pop them up and use the new ones that come with the filter. Those you just pop in.

Sometimes Ford uses a special fitting and you need a special tool that fits inside a sleeve and releases it.  My 1999 Ford Ranger was that way, but my 1999 Ford Contour just had the clips.  Take a look and see which one you have before you buy any tools.  Either way, they are pretty easy to change out.  Good luck.

Remove gas cap, ..On the fuel rail you will see something thats looks like a tire stem, take the cap off and release the pressure (slowly)..make sure the engine is cold and put down rags to absorb the fuel..this is where u test the fuel pressure..u can make a tool with a hose to catch the fuel in a contanier..have fun.

Ford's have an impact cut off switch located in the trunk. look for an acess panel. Mine was on the right hand side. It turns off the fuel pump in case of an accident. Just turn it off and start the car. When it stalls due to lack of gas, the pressure hsa been released. You are now safe to remove the 2 plastic clips that hold the lines to the filter. BTW, mine was located on the firewall near middle low enough to be a pain in the butt to take off. Learn where this switch is because it can cut off your fuel if you go over a big bump or train tracks too fast. It's easier to open trunk & reset than to be towed into shop & paying them to do it.
