How do i remove a layer of sticky glue from wood?

Try rubbing alcohol. Any thing else might damage the finish. Test a little spot on the back first just to be safe.

Use naptha or mineral spirits. Neither will harm any finish. Use a soft cotton cloth.

Try a product called GOO GONE. I always keep it on hand . Very easy and safe to use. Works on sticker residue , tar ,crayon and all sorts of things.Not expensive. Worth a try.
