We are replacing the faucet. The flange will not twist off and we are not sure if even does twist.

  1. not sure what the drain has to do with replacing the faucet?

    they're two entirely different things.

  2. There is a large nut under the sink that holds the drain assembly in place.  Sometimes they will not come loose and you have to cut the drain above the nut and below the sink.

  3. try using some silicone grease like PB or someting give it some time. if this doesnt work you can take a sawzal or hack saw and cut it out.

  4. It is probably rusted shut. Have you tried using a large plumber's wrench and hammer it with a mid size sledge hammer on near the end of the handle? Make sure you try to turn it counter clockwise while looking up. A little humor.
