My uncle gave me his dusty old guitar from the 50's, some kind of brown and black Stramoblaster, like this one:

i painted it with pretty glittery nail polish and shiny heart stickers but now im tired of it and want to try a new color. i sanded off most of the glitter but it's taking too long. Do u know what kind of sandpaper i should be using?

  1. Did you try nail polish remover?  I would think that would work best.  If not, just spray paint the whole thing.  That would look cool!

  2. Go to Lowes or someplace like that and ask them which paint remover works best, there are several. DO take off the strings and cover the bridge and the nut with tape or something so you dont get anything on them!

  3. soft cotton dipped in petrol or turpentine, or paint removing special spirit, is the safest, most loving way to remove paint and not damage the guitar! try that patiently!

  4. Don't use sandpaper because it takes too much time.  The fastest way to remove paint from these old guitars is to heat it with a propane torch until the paint peels off.  The wood will be somewhat charred but you can just cover that up with more glitter.

  5. I suggest using a sandblaster for fast efficient results.
